How many steps a day do you really need? What the research says

Probably fewer than the famous 10,000. A large meta-analysis of 15 studies shows that for people aged 60 and over, the risk of death stops falling with additional steps at roughly 6,000–8,000 steps a day, and for younger adults at roughly 8,000–10,000. And the first benefits come much sooner.
