What the server knows about me
Tada! has no accounts. You don’t enter an email or a password; your phone just creates a random key.
Until you have a shared streak or a backup, nothing that belongs to you goes to the server — only anonymous counters, see below.
What’s on the server once you have a shared streak or a backup
- a random ID number that isn’t made from anything of yours
- nickname and color
- your phone’s language, time zone and platform
- streak length, best and today’s status
- a key for delivering notifications to your phone, and the time of your evening reminder
- a group’s name and emoji, if you’re in one
Notifications from the server
The evening summary, nudges, days off and milestones are put together by the server and sent through Expo and Apple’s or Google’s notification service. The notification text includes nicknames and the group name, so those services see it while delivering it. It never contains steps or times. You can turn them off in More → Evening reminder.
What never goes to the server
- steps and workout minutes
- times and places of your activity
- anything else from Apple Health or Health Connect
With backup turned on, also
A record of which days were completed — one character per day. Without it, restoring on a new phone would bring back your streak but leave the calendar empty.
Anonymous counters
The app sends what happened in it — like being opened on day 30 after install, or an accepted invite — along with the week, the platform and the store country. Without any identifier: the server keeps only totals, so there’s no way to tell who it was. You can turn them off in More → Anonymous counters.
Where to find your ID number
In More → Profile. It’s the only thing support can find you by — precisely because otherwise you’re anonymous.
