Restoring after losing your phone

Since Tada! has no accounts, there’s nothing to sign in to. So only a backup can move your streak — and you need to turn it on before you lose your phone.

How to turn it on

It’s offered at your 30-day milestone, or you’ll find it in More → Profile. When you turn it on, you get a recovery code. Write it down or save it in a password manager; it’s shown only once and we can’t recover it.

How to restore

On your new phone, choose I have a recovery code the first time you open the app, and enter it. You get back your streak, your best and the record of completed days.

What happens to the old phone

It stops belonging to your identity. That’s on purpose: whoever has the code takes over the streak, and two phones at once would mean two different numbers.

If you don’t have the code

Without it, restoring isn’t possible. It’s not protection against you, but against anyone else — if restoring worked without a code, knowing your ID number would be enough.
